Life’s transitions are often about giving one thing up and building something new that is a better fit for where you are now in life. The client had lived in the leafy suburbs of Summit, New Jersey for over 20 years, but now it was time to lighten up while moving to an easier urban outpost. The move made visiting old friends and their adult children easier.
Enter the urban condo. In with stunning views and whole new vibe. But they wanted to hold onto some of their traditional things and still have a whole new sophisticated urban look for their new apartment. These kinds of dilemmas are our specialty. My client loves to entertain and had so many things that needed to find a place in the new condo.
Our design for the custom-made feature wall allowed me to create a place for everything and a display that opened the space and reflected the view beyond. I used a silvery Maya Romanoff hand-made paper as a backdrop for the unit and the supporting column on the wall of glass that looks out over the skyline to add light to the entire room.
Designer’s note: Creative millwork that incorporates books, objects, bar or tableware is our specialty. We can also select all your tabletop items such as china and linens to work with your new scheme so when it’s time to entertain, everything coordinates perfectly.
